Endometrial hyperplasia
When the endometrium , the lining of the uterus becomes thick , it is called endometrial hyperplasia. It’s a benign condition , but in some cases may lead to cancer .
It’s often caused by excess estrogen with progesterone. If ovulation does not happen , progesterone is not produced and the endometrium is not shed . The endometrium continues to grow in response to estrogen and may become abnormal. This leads to endometrial hyperplasia.
