When the endometrium , the lining of the uterus becomes thick , it is called endometrial hyperplasia. It’s a benign condition , but in some cases may lead to cancer . It’s often caused by excess estrogen with progesterone. If ovulation does not happen , progesterone is not produced and the endometrium is not shed . The endometrium continues to grow in response to estrogen and may become abnormal. This leads to endometrial hyperplasia. Endometritis is inflammation of the uterine lining due to infection. It’s treatable. Patients usually suffer from pelvic pain , abnormal vaginal discharge , fever and vaginal bleeding. Mostly this occurs after child birth or miscarriage, or surgical procedure involving cervix and uterus . Treatment is with antibiotics. If left untreated it can lead to infertility and pelvic infection .
